Government casino is not a good idea

11/29/2001 (INQ7.net) THE PROPOSAL for a casino as a government revenue raiser is a gigantic folly and it may even make a loss. Casinos can and do lose money. The one in my hometown of Townsville, Australia barely breaks even once wages are paid.

The ganblers can and do win and know how to – especially I am told on the blackjack tables. High-rolling international gamblers will move in, along with cheats and criminals and those who pay bribes and they will takeas much loot as they can.

The casino will rob the poor and pay the crooked. It will instruct people in cheating, drinking, sex and self-delusion. It will maintain the “luck” mentality that is the opposite of a good work ethic and contribute to undiscplined and unproductive behavior.
